Psy el "Gangnam Style" se convierte en primer cantante asiático en vender millones en el Reino Unido

Psy puede añadir un eslabón más a su larga lista de premios, ya que se ha convertido en un vendedor de millones de dólares en el Reino Unido!

De acuerdo con   Official Charts Company de venta de datos "," Gangnam Style "se ha convertido no sólo en la pista 129a a vender más de un millón de copias en la historia del Reino Unido Official Singles Chart, sino también el primer vendedor de un millon  por una estrella de la música asiática."Aunque ha habido otros cantantes de éxito para romper un millón de copias con herencia asiática, es la primera estrella asiática que nació, se crió y debutando en Asia ha alcanzado  este hito.

Martin Talbot , director general de la Official Charts Company, comentó: " Este es un logro increíble por Psy " , diciendo: " Es una confirmación más de Gangnam Style como un verdadero fenómeno - es el primer millón de ventas del Reino Unido por una música asiática estrella, y una señal de que K-Pop realmente ha llegado en el Reino Unido! "

En total, "Gangnam Style" ha alcanzado el número 1 en 27 países. Aunque el " Gangnam Style" sólo se mantuvo en el número 1 durante una semana en el Reino Unido, pasó otros 17 semanas en el Top 10 y fue sexto en el Reino Unido single más vendido del año 2012. Hasta la fecha, "Gangnam Style" ha estado 21 semanas en el Top 40 Singles Chart Oficial.

Psy’s “Gangnam Style” becomes the United Kingdom’s 1st million seller by an Asian singer

Psy can add another milestone to his growing list of accolades, as he has become a million seller in the United Kingdom!

According to Official Charts Company sales data, “‘Gangnam Style‘ has become not only the 129th track to sell over a million copies in the history of the UK’s Official Singles Chart, but also the first million seller by an Asian music star.” Although there have been other successful singers to break one million copies with Asian heritage, he is the first Asian star born, raised, and debuting from Asia to reach this milestone.

Martin Talbot, the managing director of the Official Charts Company commented, “This is an amazing achievement by Psy,” saying, “It is further confirmation of Gangnam Style as a true phenomenon – it is the first UK million-seller by an Asian music star, and a sign that K-Pop has truly arrived in the UK!”

In total, “Gangnam Style” has reached Number 1 in 27 countries. Although “Gangnam Style” only remained at Number 1 for a week in the UK, it spent another 17 weeks in the Top 10 and was the UK’s sixth biggest selling single of 2012. To date, “Gangnam Style” has spent 21 weeks on the Official Singles Chart Top 40.

Gangnam Style joins four other songs from 2012 to join the million seller list, the others being Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know“, Carly Rae Jepsen‘s “Call Me Maybe“, James Arthur’s “Impossible“, and Fun.“s “We Are Young“.
